David receiving the Holy Spirit

At MATINS V. Lord, open my lips. R. And my mouth shall proclaim your praise. V. O God, make speed to save me. R. O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

Inv. The Spirit of the Lord has filled the whole world: Come let us adore him, Alleluia. Come, let us sing to the LORD; let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving and raise a loud shout to him with psalms. The Spirit of the Lord has filled the whole world. For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the caverns of the earth, and the heights of the hills are his also. Come let us adore him, Alleluia. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands have molded the dry land. Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee, and kneel before the LORD our Maker. For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand. The Spirit of the Lord has filled the whole world. Oh, that today you would hearken to his voice! Harden not your hearts, as your forebears did in the wilderness, at Meribah, and on that day at Massah, when they tempted me. They put me to the test, though they had seen my works. Come let us adore him, Alleluia. Forty years long I detested that generation and said, "This people are wayward in their hearts; they do not know my ways." So I swore in my wrath, "They shall not enter into my rest." The Spirit of the Lord has filled the whole world. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen. Come let us adore him, Alleluia. The Spirit of the Lord has filled the whole world: Come let us adore him, Alleluia.

Hymn Come, Holy Spirit, Creator blest, And in our souls take up Thy rest; Come with Thy grace and heavenly aid To fill the hearts which Thou hast made. O comforter, to Thee we cry, O heavenly gift of God Most High, O fount of life and fire of love, And sweet anointing from above. Thou in Thy sevenfold gifts are known; Thou, finger of God's hand we own; Thou, promise of the Father, Thou Who dost the tongue with power imbue. Cindle our sense from above, And make our hearts o'erflow with love; With patience firm and virtue high The weakness of our flesh supply. Far from us drive the foe we dread, And grant us Thy peace instead; So shall we not, with Thee for guide, Turn from the path of life aside. Oh, may Thy grace on us bestow The Father and the Son to know; And Thee, through endless times confessed, Of both the eternal Spirit blest. Now to the Father and the Son, Who rose from death, be glory given, With Thou, O Holy Comforter, Henceforth by all in earth and heaven. Amen.

Ps. 1 Happy are they who have not walked in the counsel of the wicked, nor lingered in the way of sinners, nor sat in the seats of the scornful! Their delight is in the law of the LORD, and they meditate on his law day and night. They are like trees planted by streams of water, bearing fruit in due season, with leaves that do not wither; everything they do shall prosper. It is not so with the wicked; they are like chaff which the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked shall not stand upright when judgment comes, nor the sinner in the council of the righteous. For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked is doomed. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

Ant. Come, O Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful: and kindle in them the fire of your love, who through diverse tongues gathered the nations into a single faith, alleluia. V. The Spirit who proceeds from the Father; R. Will glorify me. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen. Grant, Lord, a blessing: May our hearts and bodies be worthy to be enlightened by the grace of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lesson I O Holy Spirit, consoler of the suffering, you who know the trouble of my soul, deign to console me with your sweet comfort. But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us. R. The Holy Spirit filled them and they told of the mighty works of God. Alleulia. V. The Holy Spirit fills all things and they began to speak of the mighty works of God. Alleluia.

Lesson II O Holy Spirit, whose wont is to come to the aid of the wretched. Be gracious to me that I might know you. But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us. R. Because the Spirit of the Lord has filled the whole world, that which holds all things things together knows what is said. Alleluia. V. Indeed, it is the creator of everything, having all power, overseeing all things. Grant, Lord, a blessing: May the forgiving Spirit cleanse us within and without. Amen.

Lesson III Come Holy Spirit, Paraclete, free me from all of my sins and tribulations, and lead me to the consolation of the heavenly homeland. Amen. But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us. R. The Holy Spirit with the Son is coeternal. May the tongues of fire that descended upon the apostles place in the right light my sins. Defend us from all adversities. Alleulia. V. The Paraclete Spirit will lead us into all truth. Defend us from all adversities. Alleluia. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Defend us from all adversities.

Te Deum You are God: we praise you; You are the Lord; we acclaim you; You are the eternal Father: All creation worships you. To you all angels, all the powers of heaven, Cherubim and Seraphim, sing in endless praise: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and might. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. The glorious company of apostles praise you. The noble fellowship of prophets praise you. The white-robed army of martyrs praise you. Throughout the world the holy Church acclaims you; Father, of majesty unbounded, Tour true and only Son, worthy of all worship, And the Holy Spirit, advocate and guide. You, Christ, are the king of glory, The eternal Son of the Father. When you became man to set us free you did not shun the Virgin's womb. You overcame the sting of death and opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers. You are seated at God's right hand in glory. We believe that you will come and be our judge. Come then, Lord, and help your people, bought with the price of your own blood, and bring us with your saints to glory everlasting. V. Save your people, Lord, and bless your inheritance; R. Govern and uphold them, now and always. V.Day by day we bless you; R.We praise your name for ever. V. Lord, keep us from all sin today; R. Have mercy upon us, Lord, have mercy. V. Lord, show us your love and mercy; R. For we put our trust in you. V. In you, Lord, is our hope; R. And we shall never hope in vain.

Te decet Honor is yours, praise is yours, to you be glory, O God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen.
